To supply and install a 310kVA backup generator to protect Newcastle Civic Offices in the event of a power-cut.
The project was particularly challenging, as the only available space in which to locate the generator was in the basement, which could only be accessed through a 1.5M x 1.5M hole in next to the pavement outside the building.
UPS Direct Ltd organised pathway closures and delivered a 310kVA generating set. After craning off the delivery lorry, the Transit Van sized three-tonne generator was dismantled, craned through the hole in the pavement, and rebuilt underground.
The project was run entirely to plan, with UPS Direct arranging all permits and logistics. The generating set and power protection are installed. The Civic offices can operate in the confidence that their power supply is fail-safe.
